Hey, Stranger. Turned any wrenches lately? I bought a set of Rally rims for Rusty and I’m going to an enormous swap meet next weekend and maybe I’ll find the beauty rings for them. And a wedding in April and Rusty’s probably just going to sit there and look good — well, better — all summer.

the weather here has been pretty garbage, so i havent gotten much work in, but as soon as it starts to get nice, i am going to be all over it..... i picked up a “new” daily driver.......

who is getting married?.....

what kind of rally wheels?

i been scrounging up parts for an engine project.... its going to take a while to get them together though... its going to be a pricey build...

rusty moves though, i seen the video and everything.....

so much fun stuff happening.....

The Rallies come from a same-era Monte Carlo.

Next step for Rusty is to see if I can get the electrical system online. I’ve been waiting 35 years to do this, so no need to rush it. At least I have the pleasure — and it is a pleasure — of walking out the front door each morning on my way to work and seeing Rusty sitting there.

congratulations on your girl finding a long term somebody. and those weddings are a $pendy affair....

yeah, those are good looking rally wheels.....

and the electrical system ought to be more a matter of patiently tracking down wires. most of those old trucks only have one wire in them of any one color......

Those are the rims. Mine are currently painted black, and badly painted, at that. I’ll have them sand blasted and then...

My friend and I are debating what color to spray them. Either GM medium blue or silver. My friend lobbies for medium blue.

i always liked those wheels without the rings. it is a little bit cleaner of a look. you cant go wrong with the silver/gray factory looking color.

if you are going to run rings and caps, that blue would stand out real nice too.

(i know, wrong wheels and caps, but it gives an idea)

tough call really.......

Probably silver. Rusty is way not spiffy enough for the blue.

I’m going to have them properly bead blasted before I spray them.
